Welcome to the Hermosa Beach City School District's youth wellness page, HBCSD Families Connected. This resource was created for our community by South Bay Families Connected (SBFC). We hope the resources, videos and educational material provided on this website page will support our parents, teachers, and staff as we work together in our shared vision of empowering all students to achieve and thrive. Additionally, this project aligns with our District mission of creating a culture of inclusivity, and helps us expand that intention beyond our school as a community-wide South Bay effort. The ultimate goal is for us to work together to help our youth thrive and stay on a healthy path to maturity.
- Patrica Escalante, HBCSD Superintendent
The Hermosa Empathy Project
HBCSD kicked off the Hermosa Empathy Project at the spring, 2018. The project is based on Dr. Michele Borba’s “Unselfie” books. Click here for details, and please join us at upcoming book club events.
Please visit the SBFC empathy and inclusion page for resources from Dr. Michele Borba, including a discussion guide for her book, Unselfie. Additional resources and information are provided to help us create inclusive school and community environments that embrace every individual's uniqueness and authenticity.
Looking for some kindness inspiration? We have just the thing! HBCSD students share what kindness and empathy mean to them in this four-minute video produced by SBFC. Please be sure to share it with your student.
